How do I invest in an angel syndicate as a co-investor?

Join a syndicate, review deals and decide on every deal yourself whether to invest.

As a co-investor, you join an angel syndicate via an invitation link or beel's syndicate page. The lead shares deals (investment recommendations) with you, and you decide on every deal yourself whether to invest in the startup and how much. You pay nothing to beel for this.

What does a syndicate offer you?

  • Access to selected deals: An experienced lead selects startups and shares them with you, including ones you often would not have found through your own network.
  • Deal by deal: There is no fund lock-in. You do not commit any capital upfront and only pay if you decide to invest in a deal.
  • Directly with the startup: You invest yourself and hold your investment yourself, without an intermediate vehicle (What is an angel syndicate?).
  • Several syndicates: You can join several syndicates at the same time and receive deals from different leads.
  • Possible liquidity: If you invest through beel, you can sell your profit participation rights on beel's secondary market, provided the startup allows trading. This is possible, not guaranteed liquidity (more on tradability).

How to invest through a syndicate

  1. Register for free: Register on app.beel.com.
  2. Find a syndicate: You receive an invitation link from a lead, or you find public syndicates on beel's syndicate page.
  3. Join: For every syndicate, public or private, the lead decides who joins. When joining, you digitally sign the finder's agreement (Tippgebervereinbarung) and thereby accept the syndicate's carry.
  4. Review deals: The lead shares deals with the syndicate. If the lead has invested themselves, this is disclosed. If you are interested, you indicate a non-binding ticket size.
  5. Invest: You invest on the terms you agree with the startup. If the deal closes through beel, you invest fully digitally, just as with a private offer, subscribe to profit participation rights directly with the startup and see them in your dashboard. A deal can also be closed outside beel.
  6. Carry: You inform the lead when you invest. If an investment generates returns or a profit, you pay the agreed carry to the lead (How does carry work?).

What does a syndicate cost you?

You pay no fees to beel. You only pay the carry to the lead if an investment generates returns or a profit (What does beel cost?).

The lead does not advise you personally: you decide yourself whether a deal suits your situation. Startup investments involve high risk and can lead to a total loss. Neither the lead nor beel is liable for the economic success.
